Tiles And Their Workmanship As From 1900

Examples for experts and laymen

On the first floor of our premises, we have installed a museum dedicated to „Tiles and their workmanship as of 1900 – in examples for experts and laymen“. This exhibition is rather unusual since it is integrated in our practical operation. The craftsmen come in to buy different old tiles for repairs. Those tiles often are so old that they are exposed in the museum upstairs.

The exhibition comprises tools and equipment of the craftsmen/tilers of the past, payrolls, collective agreements, catalogues, master craftsmen's diplomas, a collection of expert books, and of course the most famous and beautiful tiles from 1900 – 1980. These include the decorative Art Nouveau tiles as well as the colourful designs of the sixties, and bath ovens, tubs, a typical Hamburg bathroom from 1930, as well as the complete reconstruction of a lavatory from 1950, etc.

This museum is incorporated into our operation. The opening hours coincide with our business hours, i.e. from Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free!
